Our OPAC program consists of a 36-week group approach which concentrates on breaking the power, control, and abuse cycle through connection, education, accountability, and rebuilding thinking and emotional tools.
Our classes focus on helping the client come to an understanding that abusive behaviors are a choice. In that process we teach them new and healthier thinking and behavioral skills that will replace the negative skills and tools they grew up utilizing.
Clients are required to attend once a week for 36-weeks. The classes will be 90 minutes and lead by a professional facilitator. The interventions used in our classes include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, Motivational Interviewing, and a plethora of other evidence-based practices.

The True Insight Parenting Strategies (TIPS) approach goes beyond the basics of parenting in order to gain a deeper level of insight into how parents relate to their children. The classes investigate how parents’ personal history and relationships shape many thoughts, beliefs, and responses to their children often without even realizing it. When parents take a good look at patterns of attachment it helps improve awareness and creates more secure attachment patterns for children. Another part of insightful parenting involves learning the science behind how our brains and bodies respond to stress, known as interpersonal neurobiology. Parents will learn skills and strategies to help improve their own emotional awareness and self-regulation. Parents will then learn to transfer many of these ideas about attachment and healthy brain functioning to their children. Parents will learn insights into how brain growth and neuromaturation impacts child development throughout childhood and into the teen years. Brain-based and attachment-focused interventions are then explored including the research-tested models of collaborative proactive solutions, filial play therapy, and trust-based relational interventions.

Safe at Home helps children exit foster care and reunify with their families by expanding support for in-home safety.
Oregon requires an in-home safety plan for children exiting foster care in order for them to return home and remain there. Typically, parents are asked to identify friends and family who can help monitor the in-home child safety plan. Unfortunately, many of these families are experiencing broken relationships or social isolation, or have concerns related to a potential volunteer’s personal background check, etc.
Safe at Home’s Volunteer Family Partners fill this need by monitoring in-home child safety plans for children who are transitioning from foster care back to living with their families.
